THE POWER OF THE BLESSING PART 2

When a man is in Christ , he has the LIFE of  God. This life is the Blessing we have in Christ . In the part one of this series, we have seen what really the Blessing is. We saw that the Blessing is in words spoken. Several things can be called blessings, but in Christ, THE BLESSING IS what God has said concerning us and it is centred on the life of God we have  received. Click here to read the part 1 of this series if you have not read it.  

In this series, we will be looking at how the Blessing can affect everything we do and the power of the blessing over curses . We saw in part one that the blessing we have in Christ cannot be riches if it was we would be very disadvantaged. Jesus didn’t die to make you rich. If Jesus died for that, you would have automatically become rich at salvation.  Jesus did not also die to make you poor and so you should not be. In as much as the blessing we have in Christ is not physical but spiritual, we can use this spiritual reality to affect what happens in the physical.  No need to twist our spiritual inheritance to make it look like physical inheritance.

Ephesians 1:  3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 

We are blessed with ALL SPIRITUAL blessings in Christ. We are not cursed in Christ. These blessings are The words God has spoken about us in Christ as explained in the part one.

THE POWER OF THE BLESSING OVER CURSES 

Many times people have asked, can a Christian be cursed? What of the different kind of curses; generational curses, first born curses, and many other curses.  First Let's  understand that BLESSINGS and CURSES ARE IN WORDS. They are both spiritual realities, not physical. 

Mat 26:74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

Peter in denying Jesus began to curse SAYING. Curses are in words. Words are that powerful that they can utter physical things. 

In CHRIST THERE ARE NO CURSES ONLY BLESSINGS.

Galatians 3

10  For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written,Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12  And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Notice in the verse 10, as many under the law are under curses. The law has curses and penalties for ever part of it. Some of these curses are listed in Deuteronomy 28 as said by Moses. You cannot be under THE  law and not be cursed because you can’t keep all the laws. Even Moses that gave the law didn’t live under the law. The law was given to show the frailty of man so as to look for Christ. Christ in His death has redeemed us from the CURSES OF THE LAW in that he has ended the law. A man in Christ who does not KNOW this can still be living under the curse of the law. This doesn't mean that the curses are in Christ. Notice what verse 14 says we have in Christ. We have THE SPIRIT OF GOD which was a promise to them of old like Abraham. This Spirit which is the life of God is The blessing in Christ. I have seen some Christians whose life reflect curses because they do not know that they have been freed from the law. They keep struggling to keep the laws that they don’t even know all. So the devil take advantage of these struggles and inflict pains on them and they will think it is God punishing them. The devil can mask as God in tormenting a believer. You must  know what God can do and what God cannot do. God is seen in the blessing and the light, not in curses. If you don’t know this you will keep struggling as if you are under curses even as a man in Christ. ALL WE HAVE IN CHRIST IS THE BLESSING NOT CURSES. 

All of those curses, be it generational curses, first born curses and many other curses as they call it are NOT IN CHRIST. You will never see any reference for a man in Christ being cursed. Let’s look at Paul  for example, he went through a lot for the gospel just like the other disciples, yet you never see him attribute it to a curse or the devil. Rather he dealt with the issues. In Acts 28, Paul just came out of a heavy storm that destroyed  the boat but no life lost, then a viper, a BIG SNAKE fastened on his hand, He shook it off into the fire no harm. He didn’t say they have come again. After dealing with the storm he still dealt with the snake.

Acts 28

2  And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

3  And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.  

4  And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5  And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6  Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

As believers we must learn to deal with issues with the spiritual realities we have in Christ. What if there are obvious symptoms of curses around us. For example, your grandmother died at 40, your mother died at 40 and obviously you as a man in Christ, should you die like them?  NO. REALISE that you are NOW IN CHRIST. You have changed lineage. You are not born of blood but of God in that you have the Spirit of God. So for you to say you have generational curses in Christ, means God is Cursed.  This realisation is the answer. It is not a denial of the work of the devil. It is using God’s word to super impose on your present circumstances. YOU HAVE BEEN DELIVERED from curses. The deliverance is so strong that no landing place in case you want to go back. It was God who conducted the deliverance on you.  How strong can this be. Some believe that after getting saved, you need deliverance from curses and ancestral issues. THIS IS NOT TRUE.

Colossians 1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: It was God who conducted deliverance on you at salvation. No man delivers like God. It is foolishness and an insult  on what on Christ has done to think that it is that your prayer, that your fasting, and whatever you want to do that will deliver you from curses. Christ has delivered You. First agree with what He has done. The devil will always like to trace your issues to curses, especially in Africa where many people are suffering because of poor governance. Many things you call curses are what a good government can do. Like lack of job among graduates,  lack of money to take care of oneself, lack of good infrastructural facilities like water, light, hospital etc. So relax knowing that you are not Cursed in Christ. Let’s look at how to maximize the blessing.

MAXIMIZING THE BLESSING IN CHRIST

We have seen that the blessing we have in Christ is spiritual and not physical. Does it mean that when it comes to physical things we are helpless in Christ?  Not at all. One major way to maximize the blessing is by speaking. YOU MUST LEARN TO TALK as a man in Christ. Learn to speak to circumstances. When you see an issue that you know is not of God, you have to stand in the power of the blessing and command. The blessing has made us commanders. What God has spoken about us has given us power and authority. We cannot allow issues of life or the devil make a mess of us. You must learn to insist on the will of God. Like the example I gave earlier of an issue recurring in a family, you should not fall victim of such. You should stand in who you are in Christ and resist the devil. When it seems you are Cursed because of words people have spoken against you, you should open your mouth and speak the blessing over yourself. The blessing is stronger than curses. 

Part of the blessing is that your sins are forgiven in Christ as seen in part 1

Romans 4:  6  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7  Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8  Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Having this consciousness that your sins are forgiven will make you to be bold before circumstances. That sense of unworthiness when you stand before issues will not be there. You will not think it will not work because of what you have done. Exercise your power over issues powerfully knowing that you are qualified by what Jesus has done. Have you ever wanted to get something, and you feel you may not get it because you are not qualified?  That is what I am saying. You must stay with the consciousness of the blessing. You must know that YOUR SINS ARE FOREVER FORGIVEN, past, present and future in Christ. I used to give  this example, if by any means you kill like 20 people or more , (WHICH YOU SHOULD NOT KILL)   and after that, a demon charge after you. You should still be bold to rebuke the devil. The devil and issues respond to authority not character. This is how to maximize the blessing. Be bold and stand in the reality of who you are. 

BRING YOUR SPIRITUAL REALITIES INTO ALL YOU DO.  What is bad if you pray in tongues for hours for that your business?  You can’t compare yourself to unbelievers. Unbelievers do a lot of things you can not do. They scam, they use devilish powers to push their business. You must use the blessing you have. What I am saying is that you can supernaturally push your life by the power of God. Life is spiritual. When it seems things are not working, you will command it to work. You don’t need to wait and say God will do it. NO.  You will use the power of God you have to do it. That is how to maximize the blessing. Stop waiting, start acting on God’s word. Start changing things with the power of God you have.

In maximizing the blessing , you must know the place of the word and prayers. You must know God’s word which contains the blessing. You must know who you are in Christ and what Christ has done for you. Then base on this knowledge you must learn to CHANGE things in the place of prayers.  I am not talking of prayers of ignorance like a man in Christ praying to be holy or righteous. I am talking of standing on God’s word on any circumstance. Life is spiritual and every wise person knows that we control the physical from the spiritual realm. You have only one life who is Christ. Let him reign in everything you do.

Being spiritual does not mean you should not do physical things. Like we see that Isaac blessed Jacob in words in Genesis 27. Jacob didn’t fold his hands because He has the blessing. He worked in the consciousness of the blessing. Even Isaac himself who has the blessing still had to sow in the land in Genesis 26. Isaac sowed in the same land that there was famine and he got results because of the Blessing. Isaac didn’t sow to God. He sowed like farming. He farmed. He didn’t fold his hands. 

Genesis 26

1  And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

12  Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 

Notice the Lord blessed him as he sowed.  Step out into that investment. Be diligent in what you do, among all never forget your spiritual endowments. Then you will see the blessing in all you do.

In summary, we have seen so far that we are blessed in Christ. We are not at any disadvantage in Christ both physically and spiritually. Our blessing is spiritual that is why we are sure of it. We can’t loose the blessing. We can maximize this spiritual blessing to affect the physical.
