THE POWER OF THE BLESSING PART 1

THE POWER OF THE BLESSING PART 1

When a man enters into Christ by the virtue of salvation something happens to him that should affect every areas of his life. What happens to him is the person of Jesus Christ. At salvation Christ has happened to you. This is the Blessing. We see some Christians who go through life without allowing this blessing to affect what they do. Like the psalmist says , they die as mere men because they know not that they are gods . In this series, we will be looking at what actually is the Blessing and how this blessing can affect every areas of your life. We will also look at the power of the Blessing over curses.

WHAT IS THE BLESSING IN CHRIST
In understanding what the Blessing  is in Christ, we will point out what the blessing is not. Many times when people hear the Blessings what comes to their mind are things like cars, houses, and wealth. If this is the Blessing we have in Christ then we are of all men most miserable because unbelievers have same things even more.
The word blessing is from the Greek word eulogeō.  It means to ; to speak well of, that is, (religiously) to bless (thank or invoke a benediction upon. So blessing has to do with words spoken. It is from two Greek words eu which means well or good, and logos  which means pertaining to speech or what is spoken or said. The word was used 44 times in the Greek text (New Testament books).  None of the references refers to it as a physical possession. Let’s look at some of the references .

Matthew 5: 44  44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Here blessing is used as words. We are to speak well of our enemies instead of cursing them.

James 3
10  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Blessings proceeds from the mouth. This means that it has to do with words spoken. We bless with words.

Heb 11:20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
Isaac blessed Jacob by words, not by giving him material possessions. In fact in Genesis 27, we saw that Isaac was a very rich man. Esau lamented not because of loosing material possessions but because of loosing words of blessings.
Genesis 27
32  And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
33  And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed. note note
34  And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.
Esau was lamenting for loosing the Blessing from the father. This blessing has something to do with the lineage of the coming messiah. This is why it was referenced in Hebrews 11 as an act of Faith.

Romans 4
6  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7  Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Notice here it is called a blessing for a man whose sins are not imputed. It did not say who doesn’t commit sin but whose sins are not counted. It is a great blessing in Christ that God doesn’t deal with us according to our sins and failures. It is a great blessing that our sins are forgiven. Even David Foresaw this before the coming of Christ .

Ephesians 1
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
First in this verse we see that we are to bless the God of our Lord Jesus. We are to speak well of Him. We also see that we have been blessed with ALL SPIRITUAL  BLESSINGS IN CHRIST.  Notice the word spiritual. The blessing we have is SPIRITUAL in Christ. This blessings are The words God has spoken about us. From verse 4 we see some of these blessings highlighted. He chose us from the foundation of the world to be holy before him. That is a great blessing. Verse 7 of this same chapter points out that we have forgiveness of sins. This is a great blessing. Forgiveness of sins is what we have in Christ not because we ask but because of who God is.

Psalm 133
3  As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
In this Psalm we see that God commanded the blessing in mount Zion.  Before the coming of Christ Zion was a physical location. A city conqurred by David. But we see that Zion is used now to represent a spiritual location which is in Christ.
Hebrews 12:  22  But ye are come unto mount zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.
So we have come unto zion and in this Zion the Lord commanded the blessing which is LIFE. The blessing that we have in Christ is life. Now we have the life of God in us.

WHAT OF RICHES? HEALING? AND OTHER MATERIAL THINGS?
Money, riches, wealth and all of these can be called blessings. We can say a man is blessed because he has money. But, all these CANNOT BE THE BLESSING in Christ. Anything an unbeliever can have without Christ can not be the Blessing in Christ. When you meet a rich man not in Christ, what will you tell him? Come to Jesus and be rich? The man will think you are insane . It is r of sins in Christ so you can have life. This is not in any way advocating for poverty. You should have sense to be rich. But, for you to say Jesus died so we can be rich is not true. Neither did he die to make us poor. ANYTHING JESUS DIED FOR YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO HAVE IT, ONLY BELIEVE. If Jesus died to make you rich, immediately you got saved you would have become automatically rich same way once you receive Jesus you have life which is the Blessing. Don't envy the prosperity of DEAD men. Men who are not in Christ.
1 John 5
11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
As believers, we ought to be grateful to God for our spiritual realities.
It is the blessing that we have life. That our sins are forgiven, that we are righteous, that we have power, in Christ Jesus.
This doesn’t mean that God cannot make someone rich. This does not deny the power of God for supernatural provisions. I believe in miracles even miracles of provisions as clearly seen in the Bible. We can by the Blessing which is spiritual change physical things. In the subsequent parts of this series, we will look at how to command the  blessing and how every area of your life even your finance can be affected by the blessing. We will also look at the power of the Blessing over curses.
Be  assured THAT YOU ARE BLESSED IN CHRIST JESUS. YOU HAVE THE BLESSING BECAUSE YOU HAVE CHRIST.

YOUR SINS ARE FOREVER FORGIVEN AND YOU HAVE THE LIFE OF GOD IN CHRIST.
