NOT MERE MEN In Christ. POSSESSED

THE SUPERNATUTAL  and the BELIEVER  PART 2. NOT MERE MEN

The man in Christ has been possessed with all omnipotence. He is so blessed that God is living inside him. In the part one of this series, we saw that the basic requirement for a man to be supernatural is to have God with him. We saw all the miracles of Elijah,  Jesus(in his humanity ) and Elisha. We noted that as believers the new birth experience is our ordination to do the supernatural. Click here to read part one if you have not read it. In this part, we will further explain what it means to be supernatural and how to work wonders.

The man in Christ is not a mere man. He is not ordinary. Many times, supernatural manifestations appear strange to believers. For the fact that you could believe and be saved shows you are not 'normal' according to what the world calls normal. You believed a virgin conceived and you think that is normal ? You believed that one man you never saw died for your sins and you were not there ? Stop making it look like you are a normal person or that you don’t have Faith. Many times, the issue is that many believers are scared of what is beyond the natural. They don’t want to be seen as “spirikoko: too spiritual or weird “. You should know as the man in Christ that it is too late not to be spiritual. Even the Bible you read is full of supernatural happenings. You CANNOT afford to be normal. You read in the Bible that prison doors open in their own accord and that men walked through the prisons while physically the door was still locked and guards outside. (Acts 5:17-23, Acts 12:10).  Does that in anyway look normal to you ? That sounds like what a man that has God can do. Let’s look at John 3.
John 3
1  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and ofthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus came to Jesus by night and said no man can do these miraculous except God be with him. The man understood that what it takes to do the miraculous is to have God with men. Nicodemus being a ruler of the Jews is acquainted with the writings of the scriptures. From Genesis, we saw that men did the miraculous because they had God with them. Jesus in answering Nicodemus referred him to a greater experience . This experience is beyond God being with men the way it was before. It is the new birth experience. Jesus said except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. It will take  a man to be born from above  to see the rule  of God. What then is this kingdom of God?

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN MEN
While Jesus walked the earth, He spoke of the kingdom of God in men. This kingdom is beyond a physical location. Whenever you hear the kingdom of God don’t just think of a physical place where God rules. Let’s look at some other references where the phrase the kingdom of God was used.
Luke 17
20  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:note
21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
The Pharisees asked when the kingdom of God should come. Jesus in referring to Himself told them that the Kingdom of God is within them because  He is in their midst. So by the exhibition of Jesus  among them , He was showing them  the kingdom.
Apostle Paul also in many occasions spoke  of the kingdom of God. Let’s look at one of them.  Romans 14:17,  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost
Apostle Paul was teaching on considering the faith of others in your conduct. Then, he said the kingdom of God is not in meat and drink. It is not in physical food but in righteousness , peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. The kingdom of God is in the Holy Ghost. We have other references where Paul referred to the kingdom in teaching conduct. This is because one way people see the dominion of God is via our conduct in love and power.
So, what did Jesus mean when he said except a man be born of water and the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom? Being born of water and spirit is one experience. It is being born again which is being born of the spirit. On many occasions, in the book of John, the new birth  experience which  is receiving the life/spirit of God is liken to water. In John 4, Jesus spoke of the water welling unto eternal life to the woman at the well. In John 7:37-38 Jesus calls people to  come drink if thirsty. This was explained in verse 39 to speak of receiving the spirit.
John 7
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Don’t forget the statement of Nicodemus is no one can do this miracles except God be with Him. So Jesus responding to this said no man can see the rule of God except he is born again. So the kingdom of God said here has to do with the miraculous. The new birth experience is the entrance into God’s kingdom.  This is because when a man believes the gospel, he becomes the carrier of God. He becomes an embodiment of the kingdom of God in a man. Oh, we know that Christ is returning and we will have the new heaven and the new earth as the kingdom. but now we have a down payment, A Surety. We have God in us. That makes us not mere men.

YOU ARE POSSESSED
Do you know how supernatural you are? Guess what? You are possessed. You hear people  boast of being possessed of powerless demons, the question is, who possessed you?
God has possessed you  through His Spirit.
Ephesians 1
13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
When you put faith in the gospel and get saved you are sealed with the Spirit  as proof that you belong to God and you go no where. That Spirit of God is the down payment in you as purchased possession of God. We know we will put on immortality when Jesus comes but now, we have all of God’s power in us through His spirit.
1 Corinthians 6
16  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18  Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Paul in teaching how we should conduct ourselves in our body made very important statements. He admonished the saints to flee fornication because they are the temple of the spirit. Notice they are to flee because they are already God's temple and not to become.
Verse 17 said, he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit. It will interests you to know the meaning of the word joined. It means to fasten firmly , to cement together and cleave and become one. When a man is saved he is forever one with God. You are that possessed that God cannot leave you. By being joined to the Lord you become one  breath, one blast ; by analogy or figuratively one  spirit,  one soul, (by implication) one  vital principle and mental disposition  with GOD.  You want to know how the Holy Ghost look like in human flesh? Look at yourself. You are a Holy Spirit in human flesh because you have the Holy Ghost. You were bought with the blood of God  (Jesus ) so He can live in you.  Your body is the temple of God.  The word temple is from the Greek word naos. It means temple or shrine . Same word was used as shrine in Acts 19:24. So you are the shrine of God. Let this be your meditation. It will craze you.  It will make you be more convinced that you are not a mere man. You are possessed By WHO?  That should be your question . BY THE ALMIGHTY GOD. You are as powerful as who possessed you.

ENJOY THE SUPERNATURAL

When you hear the word power what should come to your mind is the man in Christ.
In the next part of this series, we will be looking at the spirit gift with His abilities(what is popularly called the gifts of the spirit)
