Supernatural Endowments; Benefit of Salvation. Part 4. Tongues and Interpretation. The Pentecost Experience

The man that is saved has received the Spirit of God. That Spirit enables him to be beyond the normal man. Salvation experience is an ordination into the life of power. This saved man can speak in tongues and can interpret it by the Spirit he has received. In the last part of this series, we explained the importance of speaking in tongues and how that every believer can speak in tongues.  Kindly click here to read it if you have not read it . We will further look at the usefulness of tongues and interpretation of tongues/prophecies by explaining 1 Corinthians 14 and what happened in Acts 2.

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul the Apostle already explained that everyone in Christ has endowments used to manifest the spirit. These endowments/gifts are operated in different ways in different ministries. In Chapter 13, he explains the more excellent way of Spirituals, how that love is the better way to manifest the Spirit. Chapter 14 is centered on the role of utterance: tongues and interpretation/Prophecies in a local church and how priority should be given to edifying one another with prophecy . Kindly read the whole chapter first as we explain.

1 Corinthians 14

 1  Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

 2  For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 

 3  But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

 4  He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

 5  I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

 6  Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

 7  And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 

 8  For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

 9  So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 

 10  There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

 11  Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

 12  Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. 

 13  Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

 14  For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

 15  What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

 16  Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

 17  For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

 18  I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

 19  Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

 20  Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 

 21  In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

 22  Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

 23  If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

 24  But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

 25  And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

 26  How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

 27  If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 

 28  But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

 29  Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

 30  If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

 31  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

 32  And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

 33  For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 

 34  Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

 35  And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

 36  What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

 37  If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

 38  But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

 39  Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

 40  Let all things be done decently and in order.

 

From verse one of this chapter, Paul tells us the essence of desires when it comes to spirituals.

1        Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

We are to follow after, pursue love towards others and desire spirituals. The more reason we should have a burning zeal for spirituals is to be a blessing to others in love . The greatest love to show to a sick person is to heal him. The greatest love to a discouraged person is comfort in prophecy. Emphasis is laid on prophecy because it is what everyone needs every time. But rather used in verse 1 can not be talking of instead of spiritual gifts prophesy . This is because prophecy is part of spiritual gifts as we see in chapter 12. That word but rather (Greek word mallon) means to a greater degree, so much more . The same word was used as ‘so much the more’ in Luke 5:15 and Matthew 7:36.

So Paul was saying in verse one, we should desire spirituals and to a greater degree that we may prophesy . We see  the reasons for this  in the subsequent verses .

 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 

 3  But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

 4  He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

We see in verse 2 that tongues is spoken to God not to men. This further disarms the lie that tongue is a known language. In this verse, we see that no man understands tongues. Speaking in tongues is speaking secrets/mysteries in and by the spirit.

We see in verse 3 and 4 that speaking in tongues edifies /builds up the speaker. So we speak in tongues always to be built up just like we explained in the previous write up. Prophecy on the other hand edifies the church, hence in a gathering of believers, prophecy should be prioritized so the next person can be built up/edified and comforted.  The word edify used in verse 4 is from the Greek word oikodomeō. It means to build a house or a structure or metaphorically to found, establish or to promote growth in Christian wisdom, affection, grace, virtue, holiness, blessedness. Prophecy can be used to achieve all of these for another person. You see why Paul encourages us to desire to prophesy always to others . For the church to be edified and built up always, we must prioritize prophecy in our gatherings.

5  I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

We see here that Paul is not forbidding us to speak with tongues. He started this verse by stating that his desire is that ALL SPEAK WITH TONGUES. He went further to emphasize that tongues should be accompanied with interpretation so the church can be edified . What is explained here is that tongues plus interpretation can equal prophecy though one can prophecy without speaking in tongues first . Greater is he that prophesy is not a statement to show comparison. It is ratheir placing emphasis on edification. When it comes to the church being edified, prophecy/ tongues and interpretation is of more usefulness. Tongues edifies the believer . Interpretation of tongues/prophecy edifies another believer in a church.

6  Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

Here we see the profit of tongues. With tongues you can profit another by getting revelation, knowledge/facts, prophecy or doctrine/instructions. This shows how powerful speaking in tongues is. It can be used to get knowledge, to get unveilings and instruct believers. Tongue is SUCH A POWERFUL ABILITY OF THE SPIRIT THAT IT CAN ACTIVATE ANY GIFT OF THE SPIRIT INCLUDING PROPHECY. I can profit my brother with tongues when I speak with tongues and get revelation, facts or prophecy with tongues.

 7  And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? Note

 8  For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

Paul uses natural examples of pipe, trumpets and voices to further buttress the need for interpretation of tongues. A sound only makes sense to you if you know the meaning of the sound. So also is tongues. It must be interpreted to make sense to another. So when it comes to blessing one another, we must desire to interpret the tongues spoken . You can’t give a message to another person in tongues except you interpret. Hence, verse 13 says let him that speaks in tongues pray/desire that he may interpret the tongues. Remember the need is so that the next person be blessed and edified. Paul is not saying you should not speak in tongues.

14  For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

When you pray in tongues your spirit prays , your understanding is unfruitful. This means that your mind can’t understand the meaning of what is prayed except the spirit supplies the meaning to your mind. This further shows us that speaking in tongues can not be speaking known language. When you speak English for example, your understanding IS NOT unfruitful. Tongues is a spiritual language that can only be understood by the Spirit.

 15  What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

 16  Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

 17  For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified

We see here we should pray and sing more in the spirit. The also is praying with understanding. So, the primary way to pray for a believer is praying in tongues. Just like saying, I will read my book, I will play also as a student. This means the primary thing you will be doing will be reading your books.

We see in verse 16 and 17 that the best way to bless or give thanks is in tongues. You can never miss it giving thanks with the Spirit with tongues. But, your brother can’t be edified when you give thanks in tongues except you interpret. Hence , in a local church, when you are blessing your brother in tongues, you have to interpret so he can truly say amen and be blessed. But, you can bless God with tongues very well without interpretation. That is the best well to give thanks . “that verily giveth thanks well”.

 18  I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

 19  Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

 20  Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

We see in verse 18 that Paul was a man given to speaking in tongues. He could categorically say, he speaks in tongues more than the whole Corinthian church.  But , in a local church, he would rather speak in known language when being a blessing to others. Verse 20 admonishes us  not to be uninformed/infants in knowledge but we should be innocent in malice.

21  In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

 22  Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

 23  If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

 24  But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

 25  And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

We see here that tongues is a sign of believers to unbelievers . While prophecy is to believers.  With tongues, unbelievers knows we are different as having the Spirit and with Prophecy believers know we have the Spirit. If an unbeliever sees a gathering of believers where we speak in tongues to one another, it will look insane to the person. But if it is Prophecy, the secret of his heart is revealed. This shows us that prophecy can reveal secrets. Notice the emphasis on all prophesying. Verse 24, if all prophesy. This means all can and should prophesy. Prophecy and tongues and interpretation should be for every believer.

26  How is it then, brethren? When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

Notice everyone of you has as psalm, a revelation or an interpretation. All these are parts of prophecy that can be gotten with tongues. Let all these be done to edify one another.

 27  If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

 28  But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

In our coming together, if tongue is spoken to another it must be interpreted so the person can understand. Notice verse 28, a careless read will suggest Paul is forbidding us from speaking in tongues in church. This is not true. Notice, after the statement let him keep quiet in the church, we have LET HIM SPEAK TO GOD. Notice it is in the same church. So in Church we speak in tongues to God in prayers . But if that tongues must be spoken to men, it must be interpreted. So we should never avoid speaking in tongues even in church. We are instructed to speak in tongues to God in the church. Then speak in tongues and interpret to the brethren in the church.

 29  Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

 30  If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

 31  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

 32  And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

 33  For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Let the prophet speak two or three . The prophet in this context is the prophesier. It is the believer that is prophesying or speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues. In these verses, we see that there should be orderliness in the manifestation of spirituals. The spirit of a prophet is subject to the prophet . This is not talking of the Holy Ghost subject to the believer. Spirit here is used as a metonym for spirituals(the things of the spirit). So the things of the spirit are subject to the believer. Remember he says if something is revealed to one while another is prophesying let the person wait till the prophesier is done. This is because the believer can control the usage of the things of the Spirit. This is not in any way suggesting that we quench the spirit (the things of the Spirit). It is rather emphasizing orderliness in the use of the gifts for the edification of the church. Notice the verse 31

For ye may all prophesy one by one

So it is the will of God for all to prophesy . Every believer should and can prophesy and it should be done orderly in the church. God is not the author of confusion but of peace . We cannot use the things of God to cause confusion or disorderliness.

 34  Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

 35  And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

 

 36  What? Came the word of God out from you? Or came it unto you only?

37  If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

38  But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Don’t forget the focus of the chapter has always been edification and orderliness with tongues and interpretation. So when Paul said  let your women keep silence in the church it must be in relation to the subject matter . This verses do not in any way forbid women from doing ministry or speaking, if not it will contradict many other portions of the Bible . We know in Christ there is neither male nor female.  

Galatians 3:  28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

There is no gender in Christ. We are all one in Christ. Your tribe or sex or status doesn’t affect who you are in Christ. In the Acts of the Apostles , we see that Aquila and Priscilla were involved in the work of ministry.

Acts 18

 24  And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

 25  This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

 26  And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

We see here that Aquila and Priscilla were involved in expounding the scriptures to Apollos. They obviously both talked in teaching Apollos. Paul even mentioned both of them as helpers in ministry.

Romans 16 : Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

So far we see that the scriptures doesn’t forbid women from speaking in the church or doing ministry. The work of ministry or the gifts of the Spirit is not in any gender. Where we have gender difference is in a marriage setting. Hence , Paul said, let the women keep silence in the church and let them ask their own husband if they must learn anything. What then does this scripture mean by let the women keep silence in the church? Paul was correcting a certain abnormality of using tongues and interpretation to control the man instead of being subject to your husband.  You can not use prophecy to instruct your husband in the church. This was what was being corrected. The wife must remain submissive to the husband even in a local assembly.

Let’s take note of the final instructions in the last two verses of this 1 Corinthians 14.

39  Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

 40  Let all things be done decently and in order.

Notice the clear instructions, COVET TO PROPHESY, FORBID NOT TO SPEAK IN TONGUES. It is amazing how someone can read this chapter out of context and get that Paul said we should not speak in tongues if we can’t interpret. The very thing he said we should not forbid . We are instructed NOT to forbid speaking in tongues. Do not deny yourself or refuse to speak with tongues. Also burn with zeal, covet to prophesy. The conclusion of the whole matter is that the things of Spirit should be done decently and orderly for the edification of the saints .

So far in this chapter we have seen that EVERY BELIEVER can speak in tongues and prophesy. Paul kept emphasizing everyone, all (verses 23, 25 and 26). You can’t remove yourself. We have also seen that prophecy is of paramount importance when it comes to edification of the saints and that tongues and interpretation equals Prophecy. Let’s now look at what happened in Acts 2 on the day of the Pentecost.

WHAT HAPPENED IN ACTS 2?

Acts 2

 1  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

 2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

 3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

 4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

 5  And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

 6  Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 

 7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

 8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

 9  Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

 10  Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

 11  Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

 12  And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

 13  Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

 14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

 15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

 16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

 17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

 18  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

 19  And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

 20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

 21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved

It was an early hour of the day of Pentecost in Israel. Pentecost is a feast celebrated in Israel yearly. During this celebration, the people of Israel travel from different parts of the earth to mark the feast . When the day of Pentecost was fully come, about 6am, this experience started . There came as a sound of a rushing mighty wind . Notice the use of comparisons. As of a rushing wind means there was no wind. It is describing the sound of tongues spoken. In verse 3, we see that there appeared cloven tongues as of fire 🔥 and sat on them . This means there was no fire. It was describing the fiery nature of the tongues. Many times when we read the Bible, we forget the use of figurative language like the use of simile which we see here. What does that word CLOVEN means ? Cloven from the Greek word “diamerizō” means to partition thoroughly (literally in distribution, figuratively in dissension). It is to divide or distribute . This word CLOVEN was used here to show how the language tongues was distributed among the believers gathered in the upper room. Cloven tongues as of fire means there was no fire. The next verse tells us that they began to speak with tongues as the Lord gave them utterance. From the previous verses, we already saw that it didn’t happen once for all of them . It was distributed among them. As one person began speaking then another till all were speaking in tongues. Notice they were the ones that began to speak with tongues. This shows us further that we are the ones that speak in tongues not God. Some persons are waiting for God to open their mouth before they speak .

Some argue that what was spoken here was a known language other argue that it was an unknown tongues but the Jews heard it in their language. Some even argue that it was different languages spoken. So what exactly happened? A careful read of verse 5 downwards will clarify all of these arguments.

 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Who were those in Jerusalem according to the this verse ? THEY WERE JEWS. So they were all Jews who came for the Pentecost celebration. The issue is that we started reading the next places as their native places instead of where they came from for the feast. Let’s look at these verses . Remember verse 5 already told us they were all Jews.

 

7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

 8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

 9  Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

 10  Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

 11  Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

The onlookers who were all Jews were surprised at the disciples speaking with tongues outside their normal language which is their Jewish native language. Jewish language was the language of their native where they were born.  The places mentioned in verse 9 to 11 can not be languages. These are places they came from . Let’s look at these places .

Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

  Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

There is no language called dwellers in Mesopotamia or proselytes or strangers of Rome. These obviously are mentioning Jews with the places they came from for the Pentecost.

They all hear the disciples speak with tongues and declare the wonderful works of God.

So what exactly happened in this chapter?

Remember in 1 Corinthians 14 we already saw that tongues can be interpreted to equal prophecy . We have also seen that we can give thanks well in tongues. The people on the day of Pentecost obviously spoke with tongues and interpreted the tongues in Jewish language declaring the wonderful works of God. The people were amazed because it had never happened before. Remember, it was for about the space of three hours . The time Peter stood up to defend the people it was the third hour which is 9am. It is quite instructive that Peter quoted Joel 2 and called the experience an outpouring of the Spirit in Prophecy. This further shows us that what they did was speaking with tongues and interpretation of tongues which is also prophecy. It can never be only a known language spoken here because it is called tongues. We already know from the epistle of Paul that when we speak with tongues our understanding is unfruitful (1Corinthians 14:14).

Acts 2

14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

 15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

 16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

 17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Peter did not deny that the people were drunk. He only said they are not drunk as they supposed. This means they were truly drunk but not with wine but with the Holy Ghost. Speaking in tongues and interpretation can get you high in the Spirit. If you have ever spoken in tongues for a long time you will understand. Peter in quoting Joel 2:28 says “ I will POUR OUT OF MY SPIRIT instead of what we have in Joel : I will pour out my Spirit. Peter added the “of” to show us that it is from within now that we are born again. Utterance (Tongues, Interpretation and Prophecy) just like every ability of the Spirit is from within. As believers, we must get used to speaking in tongues always and prophecy.

Indeed , this great inflamer of Spirituals we have called tongues must be consistently used . This speaking in tongues was what men of old like Elijah, Moses, Abraham couldn’t do. Speaking in new tongues is for new creatures as a product of the resurrection of Jesus and the life/spirit of God in us .

Hallelujah! Now we can speak in tongues to edify and build ourselves up.

We can interpret tongues by the same Spirit and be a blessing to others by building them up .
