ETERNAL SALVATION IN CHRIST

ETERNAL SALVATION  IN CHRIST

Let us explain first the meaning of salvation.  The word salvation is from the Greek word soteria. It means preservation,  safety, deliverance. To be saved is to be preserved, not to be lost.  According to Webster dictionary , to save something is to stop it from been lost or damaged.  To say something is saved means it cannot be lost. Unless it was never saved. To know whether salvation is eternal or temporal in Christ you must first understand what salvation really is.  Every normal Human being will not save a belonging to loose it. This is why people keep money in the bank to save it. Nobody does anything to ensure his belongings are saved in the bank because they trust the ability of the bank to keep it. It is so amazing that when it comes to Christ, people suddenly begin to try to help God who saved them to KEEP them saved. This is out of ignorance, pride or brainlessness in religion. To further understand what salvation is, click to read my post on UNDERSTANDING SALVATION.
To say something is eternal means  It has infinite duration , it is everlasting, without ending. SALVATION IN CHRIST JESUS is ETERNAL. This means it is everlasting, without ending. It is of infinite duration.
Let me start by saying that Christ is the Author , the causative of eternal salvation.
Hebrews 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
The context of this scripture is talking about the sacrificial work of Christ as the High priest. In His work on the cross, he initiated eternal salvation to those who obey him. That is those that  believe in His sacrifice. Notice It did not say those that keep obeying him. The obedience here is in reference to His sacrifice as a High priest. Jesus started everything about eternal salvation. If eternal salvation is a crime, it is Jesus that will be blamed.

The question is HOW DO ONE GET SAVED IN CHRIST? Understanding how you get saved will affect your view of salvation. Salvation is by Believing in  whatJesus has done for the forgiveness of sins and  to the intend of receiving life.
  John 3:
15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Notice as great as salvation in Christ is, it is ONLY RECIEVED BY BELIEVING IN CHRIST. As many that believe in Him will receive ETERNAL NOT TEMPORAL life. Not as many that change there behaviour. Therefore  salvation is receiving the eternal life of God not giving your life to God. We do not even have a life to give. This is because we were dead in trespasses. Ephesians 2: 1  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
This is very clear. No where in Scriptures were people told to change there lifestyle before being saved in Christ. Lifestyle can only come after being saved. Even the lifestyle is by the help of the life you have received.  Philippians 2:12-13. Galatians 2:20. Though good behaviour and moral living is good, salvation is not synonymous to change of lifestyle. To read more on this check my post on GOODWORKS. See Cornelius in Acts 10, of all his moral works, he still needed to be preached to and to  be saved. He was even praying to God and God was answering his prayers yet, he was not saved. Lack of this  understanding makes people to doubt if they are really saved because they still commit sin after believing in Christ. Should a Christian go about committing sin? No. If we sin, not when we sin, we have Jesus as our advocate. 1john 2:1. So salvation is totally void of man’s effort. The salvation you got by grace,  what makes think you can loose it by your lifestyle? You see, it is deception. Funny enough those that think they loose salvation, they don’t want to loose theirs despite there lifestyle, they only wish it for others. Salvation is by BELEIVING AND BELIEVING ALONE IN CHRIST JESUS.

WHO SUSTAINS OUR SALVATION IN CHRIST?It is Jesus Christ who saved us that keep us saved.

John 6:  37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39  And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Go back and read these words of Jesus again. Notice in verse  37, Jesus said,  He will IN NO WISE CAST OUT. No condition attached. He didn’t say He will cast out when they sin. Remember God is all knowing. He certainly knows some that comes to him will still commit sin after believing in Him. You are not wiser than our God that doesn't input sin. The confidence and assurance of salvation lies in the ability of Christ to keep us saved. No man can loose salvation. Salvation is sustained by him that saved us. If any man is lost in Christ, it will show the incompetence of Christ to keep him, God forbid that Christ is incompetent. He saves us to the uttermost.
Hebrews 9: 25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Christ is able to save us to the end. . To actually think you can loose salvation is to INSULT JESUS WHO IS KEEPING YOU SAVED.

But, man of God, what of those that backslides after being saved?
To start with backsliding is a word never used in the new testament. First understands that God said He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Hebrews 13: 5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
This is an unconditional promise. Obviously for people that forsake God after being saved, God cannot leave them. So someone cannot wake up and say I am not doing salvation again. Tell yourself the truth, people say that because of issues. Of  course, they ought not to do that. All the same they are still saved if they were ever saved. At salvation, the will of man ends. Here lies the sovereignty of God. When a man is saved, a new creature emerges. There is Nothing you can do to change it. Same way a male can not change his sex to a female, no matter his attitude. Even if the man starts behaving and dressing like a female which he should not. It doesn't change the fact that he is still a male.
Any one that is lost after being saved was never saved at all. These are the people called false brethren in Scriptures.
Galatians 2:  4  And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
These false brethren are not saved. Never confuse going to church to be the same thing as being saved. The church is an open place, any one can come.  See  how John describes this set of people.
1John 2:19  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Therefore we are convinced that SALVATION IN CHRIST IS ETERNAL. Salvation and all that comes with it is ETERNAL.

WE HAVE
ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST. 1John 5:
11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

WE HAVE ETERNAL REDEMPTION IN CHRIST.
Hebrews 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

We have ETERNAL RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS IN CHRIST. We are forever perfected and sanctified.
Hebrews 10: 10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all
14  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

WE HAVE ETERNAL FORGIVENESS IN CHRIST.
Glory to God. What a glorious saviour we have. JESUS CHRIST THE MESSIAH. To read more on eternal security check ,my post on THE UNBREAKABLE SEAL.
